What does a whole mind approach to a successful life mean?
A whole mind approach focuses on the idea that as individuals we have unique thought and action patterns that become the norm for our approach to work, creativity, and our life in general.
These thought and action patterns usually come from the part of the brain that we use the most. It could be the left or right side of the brain (though we all use both). Though many people excel by just doing the same old things, you can open up a whole new level of achievement, creativity, and productivity by learning to use your whole mind.
We do this by looking at your current strengths, weaknesses, and individual working and learning style. We look at whether you are functioning in a predominately right or left brain state. We help you come up with new ways of approaching situations and tasks in which you use your whole mind to create successful outcomes. This could be by tapping into your creative side. Or by helping you organize your thoughts, materials, ideas, so others understand what you are trying to project, say, and do.
Why is it important to know how to use your whole brain?
Using your whole brain is not simply synchronizing left with right. Have you ever heard the phrase “don’t believe all your thoughts”? Just like we get into a morning routine of brushing our teeth and showering, we also get into a thought routine. We may tell ourselves things about what we can or can’t do something based on our circumstances. Then we start believing all these thoughts and our actions start representing that reality. That’s when we create limited beliefs about our circumstances or potential. When you start examining those thoughts and changing them, you start to break past limitations. You start to open up new parts of your brain. From this new perspective, the goals you never thought you could accomplish start happening. Why? Because you have created new thought patterns and activated a new part of your brain, not just the part that keeps you stuck in the old self defeating pattern.
When you use your whole brain, you are capitalizing on your strengths, working with your weaknesses and achieving your goals through a balanced brain that sees past the thought patterns that have held you hostage.
Why is coaching helpful?
Being coached on your career is beneficial for all kinds of reasons; but there is one important one: your career is where you spend the most hours per week. You have the choice to decide how you want that time spent. I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t want to spend their time working naturally and intuitively, the way they were meant to, doing what they love and surrounded by people they enjoy.
Strength and weakness coaching can help you become more productive in your current career and gives you the confidence to move into unknown terrain: a new career field or business.
Many people have a difficult time reaching their goals because they are actually working against themselves. We all have very unique, natural learning and working styles that allow us to accomplish goals. If we try to fit our skills into a conventional box, the process of achieving goals becomes tedious, difficult, and frustrating. Learning to allow yourself to use your own abilities will enable you to succeed to your highest potential.
Do you coach people on issues outside of their career?
Absolutely. You may love your career, but have a hard time balancing the other responsibilities in your life, resulting in feelings of overwhelm. You may be experiencing difficulty in relationships or going through a transition in your life. I coach people on the daily issues they experience in their personal life as well. As a trained life coach I can help my clients work through any areas of least satisfaction in their lives.
